The City of New York has conceded that the 'NYC Coalition for Accountability Now' have submitted enough valid signatures to put the referendum for a new 9/11 investigation on the ballot in November.

The groundbreaking documentary Core of Corruption Volume 1: In the Shadows, released this year, explores the links between terrorism and intelligence agents from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel.  It includes rare and unreleased footage covering suppressed or ignored warnings and the cover-up of evidence by senior American officials.

Former Soviet commander Gen. Mahmut Gareev has claimed that the US is not going to stop the production of drugs in Afghanistan because its take of $50 billion per year covers the cost of the occupation.

The intelligence community is in the crosshairs of a storm of allegations including abduction, unlawful imprisonment, torture and contracted assassination.  Former CIA director Porter Goss likened the situation to a hurricane approaching Washington D.C.

Independent financial analyst Max Keiser cites the decline in personal incomes as well as rising debt as reasons he believes that the end of the recession is still 3 years away despite the improvement in the unemployment number.  

He also criticizes the collusion between Wall Street and the U.S. Treasury, while predicting that tens of trillions in additional bailouts will be necessary to keep banks solvent as soon as a true accounting of toxic assets takes place.

The idea of addressing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions appears to have hit an impasse in the Senate.

Two powerful Senate panels are at odds over which will be the lead author on perhaps the most critical piece of the global warming bill.

Both the Environment and Public Works Committee and the Finance Committee are staking claim to the distribution of what is projected to be hundreds of billions of dollars in emission allowances for a range of industries, adding another layer of complexity to a legislative debate already rife with trap doors.

Teller and Wood simply took a dreamy idea and engineered it for real life. They determined that tiny particles -- only one-tenth the diameter of the smallest dust mote visible to the human eye -- would be most effective at scattering sunlight. These particles could be engineered out of some nonreactive metallic substance, such as aluminum, or generated from sulfur, a substance readily available as a byproduct of oil refining. As Wood and Teller pointed out, cooling the entire planet with aerosolized particles would cost only $1 billion a year -- nearly 100 times cheaper than the cost of cutting CO2 emissions. What was not to like?

This concept is a golden goose for the oil industry. Not only are the levels of energy consumption maintained, but an oil byproduct is used to mitigate their environmental impact!
